When a “fail-safe” electric door lock looses power its default position is to unlock (or unsecure) the door. Application of power is required to lock (secure) the door.
This type of door strike should be used with caution as doors will unlock in the event of a power failure. Always consult fire codes and second stage manual had lock requirements.
